Week 1 of 365 Days of Art!

Resurrecting my blog because I have decided to do a 365 day drawing challenge! If you want to follow along day by day, make sure you follow me on Instagram! At the end of each week (ish) I’ll do a recap here on my blog.

The main reason I want to do this challenge is to just challenge myself to show up. I don’t care what I decide to make or whether or not I like it. I just want to draw or paint something every day, or as close to every day as possible. I said this on Instagram, but I used to be so good at being in the mindset of creating when I was in college studying art. Since then, it’s been so hard for me to prioritize creative time for personal work.

Personal work is where I can experiment, improve, and also just enjoy myself! Aside from just wanting to make personal work, I eventually would love to sell personal work on a larger scale. So other than challenging myself to show up, I have other goals and skills that I’d like to improve during this challenge.

Goals for the Challenge

  • develop my style

  • give myself permission to just make what I want to make without thinking too much about what people will think, etc.

  • show up! a.k.a. actually make something!

Skills to Improve

  • drawing from my mind

  • but also drawing from life

  • simplified shapes

  • simplified color palettes

  • color palettes in general

  • working quickly

Here’s my first week of drawings!

P.S. I have a Pinterest Board where you can see any reference images used for these drawings!
